About this episode:

In this episode of Pop-Punk Book Club, the boys rewind the clock to Millencolin’s Pennybridge Pioneers—the Swedish skate punk classic that soundtracked a zillion Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater sessions. They revisit their personal history with the record, including the infamous rating disaster from five years ago.

Also in this episode: Sam gifts Jayson a Back to the Future tee and reveals Jayson’s deeply questionable high school party trick involving his butt cheeks, and we learn that his landlord may now believe he has an insatiable appetite for Dutch Rudders. There’s also a heated argument about interludes, and Sam receives a very angry voice message from a ā€œlistenerā€. They also discuss the greatest Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game of all time.

Right About Now, you might be thinking, ā€œShould I listen?ā€ Well, Stop to Think—do you want No Cigar and a lifetime of regret? Or do you wanna be a Pioneer, one who rides their Highway Donkey through a Duckpond with a Fox? If I had a zoo, it would have only Penguins & Polarbears. This might be my worst attempt at this yet, but I don’t care. Press play before your phone says A-Ten percent battery.

About this episode:
In this episode of Pop-Punk Book Club, the boys dive headfirst into Blink-182’s untitled (or self-titled, depending on who you ask) 2003 album—a bold step away from their previous albums, ā€˜Enema of the State’ and ā€˜Take Off Your Pants and Jacket’. They explore how the band broke away from their pop punk roots to chase something darker, moodier and more experimental—and how that shift hit them personally when they first heard it.

It’s clear they be Feeling This episode hard. Surely it’s Obvious that you’ll love it too. So, Go and move Down to the play button (actually, it’s up. I get that wrong, Always) and press lay. Oh wait, only L-A-Y? I forgot to give you the first one. So… Here’s Your Letter: P. Press play. And watch All Of This episode—it’s good.

Also in this episode: Jayson nearly took Motion City Soundtrack to hold koalas, Sam has a traumatic run-in with his coffee machine and they accidentally watch a video of a man farting in public. Jayson also introduces Sam to The Paradox (a band he found on TikTok) and once again manages to humiliate himself. It’s Blink. It’s nostalgia. It’s chaos. Let’s go.

About this episode

This week on Pop-Punk Book Club, the boys dive into Sticks and Stones by New Found Glory—an album they both used to love in pieces, but only recently came to appreciate as a full body of work. But don’t get too comfortable, NFG fans—this episode contains some hot takes that are almost sure to make you angry.

Sonny, listen to me. It’s your Dad talking. You need to press play on this album. To say you do is an Understatement. Do not Forget My Name; I am Dad. It will be a Head on Collision. My fist, your head. I’m kidding. I wouldn’t do that to you, Son. And I love you. That is the Story So Far. Belated.

Also in this episode: they reflect on what it was like working with Stevo32, recount a moment of questionable percussion-related injury involving a bandmate and his behind (don’t worry, everyone’s fine… we think), and Sam gets roasted by his barber mid-haircut. To top it all off, they read a wild story involving the drummer from Silverchair accidentally vomiting on Blink-182’s manager in the ā€˜90s.

You know what to do—rate the album with us, compare notes and tell us whether we just committed pop punk blasphemy.

About this episode

We kick off the very first episode of Pop-Punk Book Club with a bang: Does This Look Infected? by Sum 41. But most importantly, we’re joined by Stevo32 himself to walk through the album track by track… while we brace ourselves to tell him exactly what we really think of it.

If you’re Still Waiting to hit play, ask yourself—do you have No Brains? Because you’d have to, to not click play. I’ll tell you where the button is to make it easy for you: if I was standing underneath it, it’d be Over My Head. That would be My Direction I would tell you. If you have read this far and don’t press play, then Thanks For Nothing. But hopefully I’ve given you A.N.I.C. (ā€˜A New Intent to Click’ — not the official meaning, though, but it is needed here). I’d try to squeeze in Hyper-Insomnia-Para-Condrioid into this paragraph, but I don’t even know what that means. But we ask Stevo if he knows. Find out if he does on today’s episode.

Also in this episode:

Stevo32 shares hilarious stories about living in Australia, opens up about how he first got into drumming, talks about quitting the band and moving into real estate and how his passion for jazz drumming has reshaped his musical journey. Plus, he drops some rare insights and reflections on Does This Look Infected?, Pain for Pleasure, All Killer No Filler, Half Hour of Power and touring that Sum 41 fans may have never heard before.

About this episode

šŸ¤” What is the Pop-Punk Book Club?

Well, this isn’t your typical music discussion show. It’s highly subjective and very biased… exactly how it should be. Every week, we revisit (or experience for the first time) a pop punk album in full, on the hunt for our favourite songs of all time. But this isn’t just about us—we want you to join the Book Club, too! Rate the album alongside us using our 7-emoji system (it’s easy), send us your thoughts and tell us what these albums mean to you.

The Pop-Punk Book Club is also available wherever you get your podcasts.

Or you can subscribe on YouTube and get them there, for free, every week.
